What, then, are the magickal properties of the Toad spirit, as we are honoring her? 

Throughout European folklore, the toad has represented alchemical transformation and the chemical science of poison. Seemingly morphing from fish, to land creature, to resurrected muck-beast, the toad’s life and death cycle proved fascinating to the minds of early scientists and mystics. Historical accounts place toads as a witch’s familiar, par excellence, and witch trial testimonials attest to interspecial wet-nursing, elaborate bone collection, and the harvesting of toxins, for night-flight.
