The Wolf’s potent Martial energy, and inherently protective nature, feels like an especially timely Spirit in this violent and escalating global flashpoint. The wolf’s slinking shadow hangs long over global mythological, folkloric, and magickal history. More often than not connected to protective and Martial influences, the pack oriented Wolf is most in their element in the deep winter months.

The Irish called January ‘Faoilleach’ - the “wolf month” - and February’s Roman festival calendar was dominated by the Lupercalia. Lupercalia (Feb 13-15) was a raucous and violent fertility psychodrama that recalled Rome’s natal Wolf bloodline. The Santa Cvlt honors the Luperci - the “brotherhood of the Wolf” - with these little lupine familars. Indeed, it appears that everywhere that the Wolf lived, it left a massive cultural and spiritual imprint. These potent and shape-shifting spirits are well suited for a world teeming with not-so-subtle energies, and requiring strong apotropaic materia.
